Key Responsibilities:
– Surface Preparation: Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and applying necessary base materials such as mortar or adhesives.
– Tile Installation: Measure and cut tiles to fit specific areas, and lay tiles in the desired pattern. Ensure tiles are aligned properly and spaced evenly.
– Grouting: Apply grout between tiles and remove excess grout, ensuring smooth and uniform joints.
– Repairs: Remove and replace damaged or broken tiles. Repair any underlying issues with surfaces or substrates.
– Finishing: Apply sealants, polish tiles, and clean up work areas to leave them in excellent condition.
– Tool Maintenance: Maintain and clean tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
– Material Handling: Select and procure the appropriate type and quantity of tiles and other materials for each project.
– Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
– Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and client specifications.
– Customer Interaction: Communicate with clients to understand their needs and preferences. Provide recommendations on tile patterns, colors, and materials.
– Team Collaboration: Work closely with other construction workers and tradespeople to ensure coordinated and efficient project completion.
Qualifications:
– Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training or apprenticeship in masonry or tiling is preferred.
– Experience: Previous experience as a tile mason or in a similar role is required.
– Skills:
– Proficiency in using tile cutting tools and other masonry equipment.
– Strong understanding of tiling techniques and materials.
– Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
– Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
– Strong attention to detail and precision in work.
– Good physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials.
– Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
– Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
– Ability to stand, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
– Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to dust, noise, and weather.
Work Environment:
