Key Responsibilities:
– Food Preparation: Assist in preparing ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing fruits and vegetables. Measure and mix ingredients as directed by the chef or cook.
– Cooking Assistance: Help chefs and cooks during food preparation and cooking processes, including handling basic cooking tasks.
– Cleaning: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, including washing dishes, cleaning kitchen surfaces, and disposing of trash.
– Equipment Maintenance: Ensure kitchen equipment and appliances are clean and in good working order. Report any malfunctions to the supervisor.
– Inventory Management: Assist with unpacking and storing deliveries, rotating stock, and monitoring inventory levels.
– Waste Management: Properly dispose of food waste and recyclables, ensuring the kitchen complies with health and safety standards.
– Safety Compliance: Follow all safety and hygiene protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
– Team Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely meal preparation.
Qualifications:
– Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
– Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred but not required.
– Skills:
– Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen equipment.
– Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
– Good organizational and time management skills.
– Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
– Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods.
– Good communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
– Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
– Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
– Ability to work in a hot and humid environment.
Work Environment:
– Busy kitchen environment with exposure to heat, noise, and cooking odors.
