Key Responsibilities:
– Welding Operations: Perform welding tasks using techniques such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and Arc welding.
– Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings to determine welding requirements.
– Material Preparation: Prepare materials for welding by cutting, grinding, and fitting components.
– Weld Quality: Ensure welds are of high quality and meet industry standards, performing inspections and tests as required.
– Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and calibrate welding equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition.
– Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
– Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair issues related to welding equipment and processes.
– Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including weld logs and quality control documents.
– Team Collaboration: Work closely with other welders, fabricators, and engineers to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to specifications.
Qualifications:
– Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in welding is preferred.
– Experience: Minimum of 3 years years of experience in welding or a related field.
– Skills:
– Proficiency in various welding techniques and equipment.
– Strong understanding of welding standards and codes.
– Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
– Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
– Strong attention to detail and quality control.
– Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
– Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
– Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment (up to 50 pounds).
– Ability to stand, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
– Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, noise, and fumes.
Work Environment:
– Manufacturing or fabrication shop environment with exposure to various temperatures and conditions.
– Potential exposure to hazardous materials, such as welding fumes and gases.
